Food Taster Database

The NCSU Sensory Service Center is a leader in taste test analysis. Being part of an academic institution, we are constantly developing our cutting edge research offerings and methodologies, including both research surveying and hands-on flavor testing. We currently maintain an extensive database of consumers to recruit to help you understand preferences and compare and contrast product formulations.

Our mission is to be able to send surveys to consumers all over the continental United States to give our clients more breadth and depth in variations of cultural and regional values to consider in their marketing development.

WHERE TO FIND US

Our established and active database consists of approximately 10,000 members ages 18 – 70+ yrs old in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Our database represents a demographically diverse population (including various ethnicities). If you have specific use or behavioral criteria, we can screen and segment for your test design.

We also have growing online databases outside of our home state. Find us in:

  • Boston, Massachusetts
  • Chicago, Illinois
  • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Denver, Colorado
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Sacramento, California
  • San Diego, California
  • Seattle, Washington

USING OUR DATABASE

When you contact us for a taste test panel, we will discuss what your target population is and what questions you are trying to answer. We can custom design screening surveys to select your ideal testing population from our database. Our database members receive emailed links to screening surveys and answer demographic questions for your ideal spread of age, gender, salary, education, consumption patterns/frequency, among other benchmarks. If your test requires highly selective criteria that may not be represented by our database, we will make every effort to recruit outside of our food tester database to get you the consumers you need.

Once we have established your testing panel(s), we will design and conduct the tests and surveys. Read more about Consumer Panel Testing here.
