Signing up to be a taste tester is easy!
Follow the link above to our survey, where we will collect basic data such as gender, age, ethnicity, income, cooking and eating habits, and of course, your email address.
Only one account per person is permitted. Multiple accounts may result in expulsion from our database.
We have plenty of opportunities for take home taste tests, in-person taste tests, and focus groups. We also welcome panelists from all over to participate in our long-distance opportunities such as online interviews and surveys, too!
How taste testing works:
1. LOOK FOR EMAILS FROM US
All communication with the SSC will happen on the email address you provide when you join our database.
We do not share your email address or personal information with any 3rd parties.
Your name and email address are only recorded for contacting purposes to let you know about new opportunities and to award gift cards.
Within two weeks of signing up, you will start to receive emails about new taste test or survey opportunities. If you do not receive any emails within these two weeks, please contact us for assistance.
2. FILL OUT A SHORT SCREENER SURVEY
Some taste tests are open to everyone, where others will require completion of a short survey called a screener to qualify. Don’t worry if you don’t qualify- there will be plenty of other opportunities!
3. COME IN AND TASTE
Taste tests are typically held on the NC State Campus in Schaub Hall. Feel free to find us on the NC State Campus Map. If you qualify for a taste test, our staff will provide further instructions on where exactly you need to go. Compliance to our code of conduct is mandatory for participation.
- Provide honest responses during tasting
- Be committed to showing up at your scheduled time
- Be polite to all employees and fellow panelists
- Do not converse during testing
- Do not talk about samples/opinions with other panelists while the test is running
- Refrain from using headphones/earphones during tasting
- Refrain from using cell phones/other distractions while you are in the tasting rooms
- Arrive unscented (i.e. distracting scents/perfume/cologne/smoke)
- Complete the test in it’s entirety to receive compensation
4. GET PAID
Payment depending on the test. Emails that contain taste test opportunities from the SSC will state the amount and form of payment that you’ll receive if you complete the test.
